ALL FIREWORKS, INCLUDING
SPARKLERS, ARE ILLEGAL IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Road Display begins at dark - approximately 9:30 p.m. (rain date - first clear evening) Fireworks provided by Bay Fireworks. |
| We have been asked about bringing dogs to the fireworks. While we cannot prevent someone from bringing a seeing-eye dog, we heartily recommend against it. Although they are well trained, please consider that their sensitive hearing may be damaged by the noise of the explosions. As to all other dogs, please do not even consider bringing them, for the preceding reason as well as because they present a safety and health hazard. We are sure you do not want anyone harmed if the noise and excitement become too much for your dog. Nor would your neighbors be very happy if your dog should decide that the viewing area is a convenient rest room. For these reasons, the presence of any dog other than a seeing-eye dog will result in a polite request for its removal, from the Committee first, but from the police if necessary. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. |
| Limited parking is available in the parking lot of the Takoma Park Middle School, and on nearby side streets. We encourage you to come early so that you can park close by, and also enjoy the entire evening program of music and other performances that begin at 7:00 p.m.. There is no parking along Piney Branch Road in order to keep traffic moving. After the fireworks, police officers will be at all critical intersections directing traffic to speed you on your way home. |
| Raffle tickets will be available at the Committee stand and from Committee members and volunteers out in the crowd. This is one way you can help us pay for the fireworks. |
| You will find the vendors along the fence at the Piney Branch Road end of the field, and at the top of the hill by the school. |
| Public rest rooms will be available in the Takoma Park Middle School at the top of the hill. |

For your safety, we use a
fireworks provider of long experience and excellent
reputation, Bay Fireworks. In
addition, the pyrotechnician who sets of the fireworks is
tested and licensed by the State of Maryland. We have
obtained the necessary permit from the State Fire
Marshal's office, and one of their fire marshals is
invariably on hand to make sure things are done
correctly. The site and arrangements have been inspected and approved by our local fire department and both the county and state fire marshals. The City Public Works Department has erected snow fence to restrict access to dangerous areas, so please stay on the safe side at all times. In addition, Takoma Park and Montgomery County Police officers will be on hand to ensure public safety, direct traffic and prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas. Likewise, the Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Department will be present with emergency equipment and personnel in case of fire or medical emergencies. In an emergency, alert any nearby police officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician, or call 911 on your cell phone. |
